Among Giacomo Bologna’s – founder of Braida – greatest dreams was the desire to purchase a vineyard block in Rocchetta Tanaro, which allowed for the characteristic of the region of the Monferrato Astigiano to shine through in the wine. This vineyard was called ‘Montebruna’ and created wines with intense perfume and density. After Giacomo passed away in 1990 his son, Giuseppe, was able to resume negotiations and managed to acquire, after a 7 year process, the vineyard.
This wine is an intense ruby colour with purple hints. The nose is pronounced and youthful. Austere fruit flavours of sour cherry, black currant and elderberry are spiced by black pepper notes and softened by hints of violet. The palate is of a traditional rustic and nervy style. The crisp acidity lends sapidity and structure to the wine. The low tannins are ripe and very well integrated. The wine leaves a fresh sensation.
