Falesco

Falesco’s vineyards extend between Lake Bolsena in Lazio and the town of Orvieto in Umbria, which is a hilly area with similar climatic and soil conditions, as evidenced by the long winemaking traditions of these places particularly suitable for viticulture. Centuries ago Orvieto was called with significant work by Falesco to bring history to life by focusing on Oinarea, or “the city where wine flows,” micro-varieties and old clones almost extinct in this region. In the area of Montefiascone, in particular, the vineyards, planted on sandy soils, rich in volcanic lava, phosphorus and potassium, are exposed throughout the year to a mild, rainy winters and hot summers, important to record differences in temperature between day and night. The area of Montecchio is instead characterised by very cold winters and very hot summers, partially mitigated by the presence of Corbara Lake, not far from our Estate in Umbria. The soil here is clay, calcareous, fertile enough and deep, rich in white pebbles and important micro-elements, such as ammonium phosphate, potassium, magnesium and boron.
